Senway Truck has completed an IVECO 4×4 off-road box ambulance for a rural health centre in Mozambique. The vehicle combines a full-time four-wheel-drive IVECO chassis with a rust-free aluminium medical box, so the health centre can reach patients on unpaved roads and carry them in a fully equipped cabin. Why a 4×4 box ambulance for a rural health centre
Many health centres in Mozambique serve villages connected by gravel and dirt roads that turn to mud in the rainy season. A standard van ambulance can get stuck exactly when it is needed most. The IVECO 4×4 chassis is built for these conditions:
- Full-time four-wheel drive with a chain-driven, electronic-shift transfer case
- Fording depth of 850 mm, 215 mm ground clearance and 60% maximum gradeability
- Approach and departure angles of 37° and 17°
- 180 mm high-section frame and dedicated off-road axles for carrying the medical box

Medical cabin and equipment
The medical box is an aluminium torsion-resistant structure that does not rust, which matters in humid coastal and tropical climates. Medical staff and stretchers enter through a right-side door and rear double doors that open up to 180°.
- Patient transport: self-loading aluminium stretcher (181 kg capacity), stainless steel stretcher platform, rail-mounted IV holder
- Oxygen: two 10 L steel cylinders with manifold, 2 oxygen outlets, a ventilator interface and a humidifier-type oxygen inhaler
- Power and lighting: 1000 W pure sine wave inverter, 220 V and 12 V sockets, 6 LED cabin lights, 2 IV spotlights, UV disinfection lamp
- Climate: rear air conditioner and rear heater with independent control, roof ventilation fan
- Cabinets and seating: equipment, oxygen and overhead cabinets, attendant seat and bench seat cabinet with belts
- Warning system: LED light bar, blue and white strobe lights, reflective markings and stripes, privacy film on windows
Custom livery in Portuguese
Every ambulance we build for Mozambique and other Portuguese-speaking markets can carry lettering in Portuguese. For this vehicle we applied the health centre’s name on the sides and rear doors, together with AMBULANCE markings, red cross emblems and blue body stripes. Tell us your text and logo and we will send a livery drawing for approval before production.
